Images of the new Chevrolet Corvette have surfaced online.
The cat is very much out of the bag and we now know what the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will look like. Pictures have leaked online ahead of its official debut at the Detroit motor show, revealing a suitably brutish machine in a fetching yellow hue.
The images, spotted on website GTspirit, show the new Corvette to have some scarily angular creases on the bonnet, part LED headlights, a wide, angry mouth-esque grille and plenty of aerodynamic touches such as the front splitter and side vents behind the doors to no doubt improve cooling and aerodynamics.
Engine details were allegedly leaked by Chevrolet on a website set up for the launch of the car earlier in the month. The Z06 will have 620hp and 650lb/ft (881Nm) of tyre-shredding torque generated by a 6.2-litre LT4 supercharged V8 if the details turn out to be correct.
A report in Hot Rod magazine posted on the C7 Stingray Forum claims gear changes will be taken care of by a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed 8L90E automatic gearbox, and that the new ‘vette has a 2.2-inch wider track at the front and 3-inch wider track at the rear.
Three levels of Z06 will be available with “varying degrees of aerodynamic downforce, the top being called Z07”, according to the same Hot Rod report.
