A UK price for the new Volkswagen Scirocco and Scirocco R has landed in the Recombu Cars inbox.
The new VW Scirocco and performance-focussed Scirocco R are on sale now, it has been announced. First deliveries are expected to arrive in October, with prices starting from £20,455 for the Scirocco and from £33,795 for the Scirocco R.
Numerous small changes give the new Scirocco a slightly different look. There are new headlights, new LED tail lights, a revised front bumper with aerodynamic blades in the outer section, daytime running lights, fog lights and integrated indicator lights. The VW badge now opens the boot.
Six new turbocharged engines are available, including a 1.4-litre petrol with 125PS (up from 122), 2.0-litre with 180PS (replacement for the 1.4-litre 160PS), 2.0-litre TSI with 220PS (19 per cent more fuel efficient) and the Scirocco R’s 2.0-litre with 280PS (up from 265PS).
In the diesel corner we have two 2.0-litre engines, one with 150PS and the other 184PS. VW claims fuel economy of up to 68.9mpg. All engines are fitted with a six-speed manual as standard. An optional six-speed DSG automatic can be had on all but the 1.4-litre TSI model.
Fuel economy is at its best for the aforementioned diesels, but the 1.4-litre TSI can achieve a claimed 52.3mpg and 125g/km of CO2 emissions, while the 2.0-litre TSI manages 139g/km and up to 47.1mpg. The mighty fast Scirocco R DSG offers 185g/km and 35.3mpg.
Joining the six engine choices are four trim levels: Scirocco, GT, R-Line and R. The entry-level Scirocco has a touchscreen RCD 510 infotainment system with DAB digital radio, six-disc CD changer, SD card reader, Bluetooth, USB audio connection, air conditioning, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, 17-inch alloys, height adjustable sports seats and a leather multi-function steering wheel.
GT adds a RNS 315 touchscreen navigation system, climate control, tinted rear windows, 18-inch alloys, front fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, cloth and Alcantara upholstery and a few interior revisions to improve the look.
R-Line further bulsters the spec with bumpers and side-skirts specific to the trim level as well as 19-inch alloys, R-Line scuff plates, R-Line steering wheel, handbrake and gear level, carbon effect dash inserts and electrically adjustable, heated leather sports seats.
Last, but not least, is the Scirocco R, which comes with its own unique bodykit, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, 19-inch alloys, R sports seats, 10mm lower suspension, multi-function trip computer and DCC dynamic chassis control.
The entry-level 1.4-litre TSI 125PS six-speed manual Scirocco starts at £20,455. The most expensive Scirocco R with a DSG gearbox starts from £33,795, while the manual version is £1,500 cheaper. Head to your nearest VW dealership to register interest.
