The Dacia Duster is coming to UK showrooms at the end of June, and it’s bringing its ludicrously cheap price tag with it. Pre-orders for the budget SUV, once dubbed ‘shockingly affordable’ by Top Gear’s James May, will start on 28th June where a £100 deposit will get your name on the list.
Pricing for the Dacia Duster hasn’t yet been confirmed, but expect entry-level petrol models to start from a decidedly recession-friendly £11,000. Rivals to the Duster, such as the Nissan Qashqai, usually have a starting price of around £16,595, so the savings here are brutally obvious — even if you don’t have Captain Slow’s mathematical nous.
Understandably, there will likely be a fair bit of trepidation involved in buying a Dacia Duster, which is why Renault, Dacia’s parent company, is sending 22 of the cars on a charm offensive to dealerships across the UK. They’re all left-hand-drive models, but they’ll at least give customers a chance to see the cars in the metal, before right-hand-drive demo vehicles arrive in late Autumn.
Official UK pricing and specification for the Dacia Duster will be announced on 28th June. Dacia will also launch a Web site that’ll allow potential customers to configure their preferred version, and to leave a £100 deposit that’ll put your name on the list for one of the first cars arriving in January 2013.
