Drunk driver stopped in the overtaking lane of M25 and fell asleep at the wheel

A driver was so drunk that he parked up in the overtaking lane of the M25 and fell asleep. James Dance, 59, from South London was seen by other drivers weaving between lanes 2 and 3 at 20mph. Eventually, Mr Dance (or is that ‘Dunce’?) decided it was time for a nap and he duly fell asleep at the wheel in the third lane at 9:25am on Tuesday 22nd October.

Eventually, Dance got out of his car and dozed near the central reservation, where he was confronted by a concerned driver who stopped and called the police. Cops said in a report that Mr Dance was unsteady on his feet (clearly not living up to his surname), and a breathalyser test found him to be nearly four times over the drink drive limit with 139mcg of alcohol in 100ml breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

Mr Dance pleaded guilty to drink driving, and his defence lawyer told the court that Mr Dance had “struggled with alcohol for years”, although he has had no previous convictions.

Mr Dance has been banned from driving until December 20th when he will be sentenced. The case has been adjourned until that date so a psychiatric assessment can be made.

Can you imagine the carnage Mr Dance could have caused? Let us know your thoughts by posting in the comments below.
