Fiat Panda 4×4 monster truck video shows small is the new big

The Fiat Panda is as versatile a car as they come. It’s frugal, has space for five, is fun to drive and – in Panda 4×4 form – is even a fairly capable off roader. Admittedly, very few people take its all-terrain capabilities seriously, but their opinions might change once they get a load of this modified monster truck version.

Fiat built this bizarre Panda monster truck to highlight the capabilities of its Panda 4x4 model.

This bizarre Frankenmotor, which features the body of a Fiat Panda 4×4 and the undergubbins of a Jeep CJ7, is the brainchild of Fiat and Italian advertising production company Mercurio Cinematografica. It was created as part of a marketing campaign designed to show the world the Panda can go almost anywhere and do almost any thing.

The 12.8-foot-tall car-cum-truck looks awesome, yet slightly ridiculous sitting on a set of 59-inch tractor tyres. We’ve no idea how you get inside the thing, and parking is sure to be a nightmare (unless you park on top of other vehicles) but if we said we didn’t want one, we’d be lying.

According to Fiat, the Panda monster truck took just over two weeks to finish, with the most difficult aspect being the the arduous task of connecting the Fiat’s modern braking, accelerator controls, clutch and steering systems to the Jeep’s slightly industrial chassis.

Despite the apparent difficulties, Fiat’s engineers appear to have succeeded. You can see the final creation, frolicking in the snow, in the video below. Like it? Hate it? Don’t care one way or the other? Let us know in the comments section.
