Jaguar F-Type Coupe official price, specs and pictures revealed

We knew Jaguar had the F-Type Coupe model up its sleeves, thanks to a few spy shots. Now Jaguar has given us the lowdown on how much the Convertible’s sibling will cost, the specs and exactly how fan-bloody-tastic it looks.

Jaguar claims the F-Type Coupe is the “most dynamically capable, performance-focussed, production Jaguar ever”. It also promises to be the most torsionally rigid car the car manufacturer has ever built.

Three versions will be available, echoing the Convertible. There’s a 335bhp F-Type and 375bhp F-Type S, both of which have a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 capable of 0 to 62mph in 4.8 and 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 161 and 171mph, respectively.

For the utterly insane the F-Type R provides you a 5.0-litre V8. It has a whopping 543bhp (up from the Convertible’s 488bhp), allowing it to hit 0 to 62mph in 4 seconds (two-tenths of a second faster) on to a ‘limited’ 186mph top speed.

All models come with the 8-speed Quickshift transmission, with flappy paddles mounted on the steering wheel taking care of manual shifts. The gearbox has been recalibrated to make use of all the extra power.

In terms of styling the F-Type Coupe looks more like the C-X16 concept, originally unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The roof, which can be made from aluminium or panoramic glass, gives it a more muscular look, while the back end looks a bit evil.

Boot space has been increased from a measly 200 litres, which was enough for a set of clubs at a push, to 407 litres, which is spare for two sets. A power-assisted tailgate saves you the hassle of opening and closing the thing manually.

Other new additions include a second-generation version of Jaguar’s Electronic Active Differential, which works alongside a new Torque Vectoring braking system to ensure all of those ponies get released as they’re supposed to, and a deployable spoiler for when a bit of extra downforce is needed.

The F-Type and F-Type S weigh 21kg less than their respective Convertible cousins if you opt for the Carbon Ceramic brakes, while the hefty V8 F-Type R weighs the same 1,665kg.

“The F-TYPE Coupé provides its driver with a unique sports car experience,” Jaguar Land Rover group marketing director Phil Popham commented. “It combines seductive design with cutting-edge technology and performance which is truly breathtaking. Engaging, precise, intuitive and alive – it is the definitive sports Coupé.”

Jaguar F-Type Coupe price

The Coupe starts at £51,235 for the F-Type, £60,235 for the F-Type S and £85,000 for the F-Type R. Expect our first drive in the very near future – after we’ve stopped drooling over the images below.
