Ken Block’s Gymkhana 6 recreated using remote control cars

HPI Racing’s ‘Ken Block Micro Gymkhana’ YouTube video is big on action.

Normally you need a large area of tarmac to recreate the millimetre-perfect power slides seen in Ken Block’s Gymkhana videos, not to mention nerves of steel and a car you’re happy to trash — or so you might think. One remote control toy retailer has decided to recreate Block’s antics on a much smaller scale — and the result is three minutes of YouTube brilliance.

HPI-Racing UK‘s interpretation of the latest Gymkhana 6 video, which sees rally driver Ken Block skidding around in a rally car like a lunatic, uses a remote control Ford Fiesta ‘Micro RS4’ with a Go-Pro camera stuck on top to film part of the action.

Toy diggers, miniature bollards, non-descript remote control cars and even cut-out people make up some of the obstacles seen in the YouTube video, which has amassed nearly 400,000 views since it was published on December 21st.

Many of the camera angles and stunts seen in the real Gymkhana 6 have been replicated for added authenticity. What is most impressive, however, is the awesome driving skill on display, which sees the mini Ford Fiesta rally car brush past each obstacle with only a hair’s breadth to spare. Precision really is an understatement.

Admittedly Ken Block has a more life-threatening job trying to tame a stripped-out 650bhp Ford Fiesta as it drifts around a giant metal spikey ball, but you’ve got to admire the talent on display here. 

The remote control Ken Block 2013 GRC Micro RS4 Ford Fiesta is a 1/18th scale replica and has four-wheel drive, a rear straight axle and double-wishbone independent front suspension. It costs £124.98.

This isn’t the first time Ken Block’s antics have earned himself a spin-off video. Ken Box sees a man hooning around obstacles in a cardboard box. Yes, really.
