Kia Ceed GT details, images and price

Five-door Kia Ceed GT comes in GT and GT Tech flavours.

Rejoice ─ the wait for a five-door performance Kia is over. The Kia Ceed GT, which is a sporty version of the Ceed, is available now in the UK, with prices starting from £20,495. It follows in the footsteps of the 3-door Pro_Ceed GT launched in 2013.

Under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol engine that outputs 201bhp and 265Nm (195lb/ft) of torque. 0 to 62mph takes a respectable 7.4-seconds and the top speed is 143mph. Full torque is available from 1,750rpm. 38.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 171g/km are quoted.

Kia has fettled with the suspension to improve handling by increasing the damper rebound and compression rates, stiffening up the springs and bushes, beefing up the anti-roll bar and adding Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres. 300mm discs at the front and 262mm discs at the rear provide the stopping power.

The Ceed GT comes with a choice of GT (entry-level) and GT Tech (top-spec) trim levels. The former comes with leather and suede Recaro seats, dual exhausts, ‘ice-cube’ LED daytime running lights, red brake calipers and 18-inch alloy wheels in graphite grey.

Both cars also benefit from a new front and rear bumper design, side sill mouldings and leather on the steering wheel and gear knob. There’s also air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, six-speaker radio and CD player with an iPod connection, electric windows, cruise control, automatic lights and a TFT LCD display.

Standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-Start Assist, six airbags, Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-force Distribution.

The pricier GT Tech adds a 7-inch touchscreen display with satellite navigation that supports full UK postcodes, reversing camera, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, engine stop/start button, automatic windscreen wipers, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, automatic de-fog system, automatic-dimming rear-view and Xenon adaptive headlights with washers.

A Kia Ceed GT will set you back £20,495, while the GT Tech starts from £22,995. A 7-year/100,000 mile warranty is included. Check out the images below.
