Gather round, speed freaks, and get an eyeful of the Koenigsegg Agera One: 1 — a rumoured hypercar that could topple the Bugatti Veyron as the fastest thing on four wheels.
The Koenigsegg One: 1 has previously been outed in an image purportedly from a Koenigsegg brochure around six months ago. The company has remained quiet about the thing ever since, but Internet chins are wagging once again with the leak of these new renders.
According to AutoCar, the name ‘One: 1’ comes from the fact it produces 1bhp for every 1kg of weight. That would be pretty damn impressive, as the thing weighs 1,400kg — 35kg less than the standard Agera. That should mean 200bhp more than the 1,888kg Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.
Quite how the Swedish car manufacturer is going to extract that much power from the Agera’s 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 remains to be seen. The standard engine generates 947bhp and 811lb/ft of torque, giving the Agera a top speed well over 200mph and a 0 to 62mph time of 3.0 seconds.
If that excites you then wrap your noodle around this: The special edition Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra – built to celebrate the creation of the big K’s 100th car – ekes 1,030bhp from the same engine, bringing the 0 to 62mph time down to 2.8 seconds and the top speed up to an unverified 273mph.
Koenigsegg has reportedly ensured aerodynamic revisions are up to the job of keeping the Agera One:1 stuck to the road and stable at speed.
Even if you could afford the likely multi-million price tag (the Agera S Hundra costs US$2.5million or about £1.635million) only five One: 1s are being built and they are all destined for the Chinese market.
