Lexus RC Coupe pictures and specs

Details and pictures of the Lexus RC Coupe have been released ahead of its world debut at the Tokyo motor show on November 15th.

The two-door RC Coupe is a new breed of Lexus designed to ooze “emotional appeal”. It’s based on the four-door IS Saloon but is 30mm longer, 30mm wider and 35mm closer to the ground.

A choice of two engines will be unveiled at the show, a 3.5-litre RC350 V6 petrol and a 2.5-litre RC 300h hybrid, the latter of which is likely borrowed from the IS 300h. This means the RC Coupe should get around 60mpg ─ not too shabby.

The distinctive styling partly comes from the LF-LC concept we saw back at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, with its triangular headlights and that mental front spindle grille arrangement, which looks like it could swallow its BMW 4 Series rival whole.

Lexus is undoubtedly saving full details until the show kicks off proper, but it was kind enough to reveal the RC Coupe will get a choice of either 18- or 19-inch alloys, a new red paintjob, fancy interior lighting and a seven-inch navigation screen linked to a Remote Touch interface controller.

It will also come with foam seats moulded using the same technique as racing seats.

You’ll have to wait until the Tokyo motor show for pricing and availability details. Until then, check out the RC Coupe below.
