Being cut up by other drivers is easily one of the most frustrating things that can happen to any motorist, and will undoubtedly cause many of us to use a few expletives and maybe throw a couple of hand gestures.
One man has decided, however, that swearing and flipping the bird is an ineffective approach to the problem. Rather than tell people where to go, Russian bus driver Alexei Volko – a man who also goes by the nickname “The Punisher” – prefers to ram the offending cars to show his disdain.
Don’t believe us? The bus driver has compiled a collection of his finest zero tolerance driving moments taken from a camera planted on the dashboard of his bus and put them on YouTube for all to enjoy (and fear). The result, as you will see below, makes for absolutely brilliant, if terrifying, viewing but it’s also strangely satisfying for anyone who has suffered at the hands of an idiot driver.
Volko’s no-nonsense driving style has made him into a bit of a local hero and he believes he’s perfectly justified in what he does. Speaking to a local newspaper, he said: “What can I say? [Other drivers] usually behave in a rude manner. I often see how bus waits with the turn signal switched on for one-two minutes, and these “morons” still continue squeezing in. However, the situation is gradually improving… due to my educational work.”
Amazingly, Volko’s employers are complicit in this debacle. “If there is no fault of mine, the management doesn’t care,” he explained. “The bus usually gets only minor damage. If the damage is more serious, they just wait for the insurance payments and then repair [it].”
In the UK this sort of behaviour would not go down well but there’s no disputing the effectiveness of his technique. Nothing sticks in the mind better than being shunted by a bus, judging by the expressions on the faces of his.
The next time you think about cutting up another motorist, perhaps consider the thought that The Punisher has moved to England and is right behind you.
