Simon Cowell shows off Eagle Speedster, worth over £600,000

The Eagle Speedster has been added to Simon Cowell’s already jaw-dropping collection of cars. Warning: will cause serious car envy!

Simon Cowell has splashed out on an Eagle Speedster, which is based on the stunning 1965 Jaguar E-Type. Cowell has handed over £600,000 for the black beauty (pocket change to the multi-millionaire) after seeing it on an episode of Top Gear. He tweeted a picture of the Speedster with the caption: “I think this may be the most beautiful car in the world. It’s made by Eagle. Thank you Henry, Paul and the team.”

Sussex-based restoration company Eagle has made some subtle changes to improve the brakes, suspension and interior. An aluminium body has been added, and its engine, which sits beneath the never-ending bonnet, has been rebuilt.

Specifically, the Eagle Speedster uses a six-cylinder engine, which produces 310bhp, allowing the Speedster to accelerate 0-60mph in five seconds and hit a top speed of more than 160mph. Just as well for Simon, who is likely to end up being chased by angry and jealous mobs.

In the Top Gear episode which compares the Speedster with the E-Type, Jeremy Clarkson says the Speedster is the most beautiful car [he] has ever seen.”

Simon plans to ship the sports car out to the United States. Paul Brace, technical designer at Eagle, said: “Simon got in touch after seeing it on Top Gear. It is one of three, is hand built and we’re delighted Simon has the car. He was over the moon when he saw it and we’re looking forward to delivering it to him in the US where he can enjoy it in the sunshine.

Cowell extensive car collection includes a Caterham. He recently sold his Bugatti Veyron.

Lucky for some. What do you make of the Speedster? Let us know in the comment section below.
