Sky’s Star Wars movie marathon foreshades Episode VII exclusive

Sky Movies is showing every Star Wars film throughout August, ahead of Episode VII: The Force Awakens hitting cinemas.

Sky TV subscribers with Sky Movies and Now TV customers with a Sky Movies pass will be able to watch all six movies live and on-demand this month as the run up to The Force Awakens, due in cinemas on December 18, gathers pace.

Ian Lewis, director of Sky Movies, said: “As a massive Star Wars fan I personally can’t wait to rediscover one of the most enduring franchises of all time.

“What excites me even more, however, is that there will be a whole new generation of Sky Movies and Now TV customers who will be able to discover the Star Wars Saga for the first time; an incredibly envious position to be in!”

This isn’t the first time Sky has stoked the hearts of Star Wars fans; it broadcast the UK’s first 48 hour Star Wars marathon over the May Bank Holiday weekend, which just so happened to end of May the 4th – aka Star Wars day.

Both trilogies will be again shown back to back on 22nd-23rd of August as well as over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The movie marathon lands inbetween Secret Cinema’s screenings of The Empire Strikes Back in London and precedes the launch of a new Star Wars film that might actually be good.

Thanks to a deal made with the dark lord Disney back in 2013, Sky will also be the first UK broadcaster to show The Force Awakens on TV once it’s finished its theatrical run.
