Rovio has released a new update to Angry Birds Star Wars, 'Escape from Hoth' adding 22 new levels and Mynock Pigs.
Update 1.1.2 is available for Android and iOS smartphones, adding 20 new levels to the Hoth planet, 2 bonus levels, introducing Mynock pigs and promising an epic moving boss fight.
To access the update on an iPhone tap the App Store - Updates - Angry Birds Star Wars - Update. On an Android phone launch the Google Play Stor - Menu - My Apps, locate Angry Birds Star Wars and install the update.
The update isn’t currently available for Windows Phone. This week Rovio confirmed it would be giving away Angry Birds Star Wars fre, with the first BlackBerry Z10 devices sold, but the update hasn't yet landed in the BlackBerry App World.
LucasFilm and Rovio launched Angry Birds Star Wars into the mobile space in November 2012.
“This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away,” said Peter Vesterbacka, CMO of Rovio. “As a big Star Wars fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one.”
The Angry Birds family resemble key characters from the Star Wars saga, each with their own powers and players will catapult these space-savvy avian missiles across the sands of Tatooine and occupy the same space as the Death Star, which now looks to have gone under a bit of a Rovio makeover.
We’ve been playing the game a lot (check out our Angry Birds Star Wars review here) it’s breathed new life into the Angry Birds saga, appealing to Star Wars loving mobile gamers young and old.
We know not yet of pricing and can only assume that the title will launch to effectively every platform that its predecessors did. We’ll bring you more once we get a chance to test it out for ourselves.
