What is Disney Emoji Blitz?

Disney’s Emoji Blitz is a new mobile game for Android and iOS (iPhone/iPad) devices. It’s a ‘Match-3’ game, similar to the likes of Candy Crush Saga, but in this case you’ll be swapping around emoji based on famous Disney characters, in order to line up three or more identical emoji in a row.

Emoji Blitz is more simple than many Match-3 mobile games, making it suitable for younger players, but also includes plenty of bonus features including ‘missions’ (set objectives that must be completed to level up and unlock new rewards and gameplay features). The ultimate aim is to unlock all of the Disney emoji, which can be used in your phone’s keyboard and messaging apps.

Does Disney Emoji Blitz include in-app purcashes (IAP)?

Disney Emoji Blitz does include in-app purchases. You can swap real-life currency for in-game gems when in the Emoji Shop, which can be used to skip missions, buy more gold coins and more.

However, a bug in Disney Emoji Blitz means that this feature is disabled in some countries outside of the US. At the time of writing, in-app purchases were not working in the UK. Disney Interactive is aware of this bug and is working to fix it.

How to collect more coins and gems in Disney Emoji Blitz

Every time you complete a game in Disney Emoji Blitz, you’ll get a small number of coins added to your total, depending on your final score. Coins can be swapped for various things, most importantly those silver and gold chests which contain unlockable emoji characters – so you better get saving up.

You will also occasionally collect gems, which again can be swapped for good stuff like bailing out of your mission objectives – more on these later. And you can trade those sparkly nuggets for more coins by tapping the plus sign next to your coins bar, up at the top of the main menu.

One sure-fire way to get coins or gems is by levelling up, which happens every time you complete your current set of missions. These mission objectives can be viewed at any time from Disney Emoji Blitz’s main menu, by tapping the star tab. Usually they’re pretty easy to complete; for instance, you might have to collect so many coins, or hit a set score during one of your games.

Finish all of the missions for your current level and you’ll step up, which also gives you a reward chest to open. This usually holds bonus coins or gems.

You can also grab some free coins and gems simply by heading to the Emoji Store inside the app every day. In here you’ll find a ‘Free Prize’ which can be opened every 8 hours. This is almost always coins or gems, so make sure you log in every day so you don’t miss out. Disney Emoji Blitz will usefully send you a notification when that day’s Free Prize unlocks.

How to get a high score and enter the leaderboards in Disney Emoji Blitz

You’ll need more than just a fast finger to score high in Disney Emoji Blitz. You’ll also need to think tactfully.

For instance, always be on the look-out for 4 and 5-in-a-row matches, which plant essential power-ups on the grid. This will be a stormy cloud for 4-in-a-row, which immediately wipes out an entire row or column when swiped in that direction. And you get a cheery sun for 5-in-a-row, which blasts out in every direction to quickly clear lots of emoji.

We’d recommend trying to get two of the same power-ups side-by-side and then swapping them, which sets up a more powerful result. And if you get enough of these power-ups scattered around the grid, you can kick off a seriously cool chain reaction which clears the entire board and gives you a massive score. The suns are particularly effective when activated in the centre of the grid, so try and move them there if possible.

Blitz mode is also a great way to boost your score quickly, as any points you earn are multiplied by your blitz bonus (which is set by your current level). When this activates, try to chain as many matches as possible and activate any on-grid power-ups.

And always keep on eye on your chosen emoji’s icon at the bottom of the screen. When this is fully powered-up and starts to shake, tap it immediately to unleash your emoji’s special power. The likes of Randall are good to start with, as he changes other emoji into himself, which opens up a good chance of a 5-in-a-row match. If you’re good enough, you can activate your emoji’s power two or three times in a single game.

You can also boost your score by levelling up. Every time you complete a set of Disney Emoji Blitz missions, you will rise a level. This not only unlocks a reward, but also boosts your Blitz Bonus, thus giving you an even bigger in-game score. Likewise, every time you play with unlocked emoji, their points value will rise giving you a bigger score every time you clear them off the grid. So the more you play, the bigger your potential scores.

If you’re still struggling, it’s possible to buy ‘Boosts’ before each game which give you special power-ups, extra time and so on. However, these cost a lot of coins, so are best avoided. The rewards tend not to match the price.

How to unlock more Disney emoji in Disney Emoji Blitz

Disney emoji are usually unlocked in the game’s Emoji Shop. You can swap either 15,000 coins for a silver box (which unlocks a basic emoji) or 30,000 coins for a gold box (which unlocks a more advanced emoji). However, some boxes will upgrade one of your existing emoji’s powers instead.

If you act fast and download Disney Emoji Blitz right now, you’ll also be able to enjoy free emoji character unlocks every day until just before midnight on July 18. Just head to the Emoji Shop in the app and tap the ‘Emoji Day Box’ to unlock that day’s character. You’ll get a new one every 24 hours, until the deadline hits.

How to use Disney Emoji Blitz emoji in messages by adding them to your phone’s keyboard

To use Disney Emoji Blitz emojis in your real-life Android or iPhone messages, you’ll need to head to the game’s settings menu (tap the cog icon in the top left corner of the main menu) and then head to the ‘Keyboard’ option. Tap Keyboard Setup, and then Enable Emoji Blitz Keyboard. This will take you to your phone’s keyboard settings, where you can swap the default keyboard to Disney’s Emoji Blitz board.

So for instance, in Android’s phone settings, you’ll want to make sure that the ‘Current Keyboard’ setting inside the Language & Keyboard menu is set to ‘Emoji Blitz Keyboard’.

You can then swap between your standard keyboard and the Disney keyboard at any time by heading to your keyboard settings.
