Pink Sony Xperia XZ Premium coming to UK in June

Sony has revealed that the Xperia XZ Premium smartphone will be released in the UK in June 2017, in a choice of three colours. One of which is a gorgeous pink, of course.

What is the Sony Xperia XZ Premium?

If you spent the whole of MWC 2017 blind drunk, chances are you missed Sony launching one of the most premium mobile phones of all time. The aptly titled Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a souped-up version of the already-lovely Xperia XZ flagship handset. Not only do you get updated specs, including the exciting new Snapdragon 835 processor, but the XZ Premium also boasts the world’s first 4K HDR screen. Great news for anyone with a long commute, who enjoys some Netflix on the go.

Sony has also packed in its brand new MotionEye camera, one of the most impressive mobile snappers around. You can shoot detailed snaps and up to 4K footage as usual, but the MotionEye is also capable of capturing stunning Super Slow Motion video clips. At 240 frames-per-second, the results are truly impressive.

When is the Sony Xperia XZ Premium release date?

Although the Xperia XZ Premium launched at MWC, there was no word from Sony on when this mighty phone would hit the UK. But now we know that the handset will be released here at the ‘end of June’. Just a couple of months to wait, then.

Even better, the Xperia XZ Premium will be released in the UK in three different flavours. As well as the black and chrome models that we saw over in Barcelona, Sony’s new handset will hit Britain in a ‘bronze pink’ finish. You can see this in the shot below.

It may not be for everyone, but the pink Xperia XZ Premium certainly stands out from the crowd. Plus, we’re so used to pink versions of the biggest phones – including Apple’s iPhone 7 and the Huawei P10 – that we’d happily rock this vibrant blower every day.

How much will the Xperia XZ Premium cost in the UK?

So far, Sony has not announced an exact UK price for the Xperia XZ Premium. However, with this kind of tech on board, you can expect to pay top dollar (or pound) for your very own handset. We’re expecting the phone to start at around £699 SIM-free. On contract, it will probably match the Samsung Galaxy S8 and start at around £50 per month with no up-front cost.

Stay tuned for our full Sony Xperia XZ Premium review and check out our hands-on impressions of this brilliant blower.
