The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was first spotted on camera around a month ago, with a report suggesting that the handset would be released sometime in June. SamMobile is now suggesting that the little brother to the Galaxy S4 has been delayed, with the new release set for Week 29, the middle of July.
Specs for the smaller handset appear to unaltered, however. The Galaxy S4 Mini is said to feature a 4.3-inch 960x540 Super AMOLED display, as well as an 8-megapixel camera and Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. There are reportedly two versions of the handset which will feature different processors: the single SIM card slot, dubbed the GT-I9190, will supposedly have a quad-core processor, while the Mini Duos GT-I9192 with two SIM card slots will have a dual-core processor.
Just like the Galaxy S III Mini, the Galaxy S4 Mini will take after the design of samsung’s current crop of smartphones. It’s good to see Samsung offering a smaller device with relatively decent specs, but the branding still comes across as an attempt to sell more units on the back of the flagship phone, the Galaxy S4.
Still, those specs are nothing to sneeze at, and Samsung could have a nice little mid-range device on its hands. The only question left is how the Galaxy S4 Mini will cost, but we’re going to have to wait a little while before we find out. If the rumour of a mid-July release is true, then it shouldn’t be too much longer until we see an official announcement.
