Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) Preview

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) is the latest tablet to arrive from Samsung and the first Samsung device to arrive with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running out of the box.

As the number in the parenthesis suggests, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)’s screen measures 7-inches across the diagonal. The screen is a capacitive PLS-LCD with an eye-scorching resolution of 1024×600 (WSVGA) which promises pin sharp levels of detail and great viewing angles.

Powered by a dual-core 1 GHz CPU and 1GB of RAM the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) ought to offer a fast, slick tablet browsing experience and handle high-end games as well.

Alongside Ice Cream Sandwich and its features (such as Face Unlock) comes Samsung’s trademark TouchWiz user interface plus the usual brace of Samsung services such as Samsung Apps, Samsung Music and Samsung Reader.

There’s also two new services debuting on the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), Samsung’s AllShare Play – a remote desktop streaming service – and S Suggests – an app recommendation platform.

Camerawise, you get a 3-megapixel fixed focus main camera (no flash) on the rear and a front-facing VGA camera.

Available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB sizes, there will be two versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) on sale; Wi-Fi only models and 3G and Wi-Fi editions. Besides 3G connectivity, the main difference between these versions of the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) is that only the 3G and Wi-Fi one will come with GPS and GLONASS capabilities, whereas the Wi-Fi only versions won’t.

Coming later this year, we’ll keep you posted as to when the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) is arriving in the UK.
