Samsung Galaxy Young Preview

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the most popular Android smartphone on the market, but high-end specifications like a quad-core processor and 4.8-inch screen, mean it’s too expensive for many people.

To entice young people to its Galaxy range, Samsung has announced the Samsung Galaxy Fame and Samsung Galaxy Young, phones that look similar, but a few feature compromises mean a more affordable price.

The Samsung Galaxy Young runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, overlayed with Samsung’s Nature UX UI, with a 3.27-inch 480×320 screen. Inside there’s a 1GHz processor and 768MB RAM, which is a pretty high amount at this price and should ensure smooth performance.

Inside there’s 4GB internal memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card, giving more space for apps, music, movies and of course photographs. The Samsung Galaxy Young’s primary camera has a resolution of 3-megapixels, which is a little low, but will be fine for Facebook and Twitter photographs, although the lack of flash rules out low-light photography. Connectivity includes 3G, Bluetooth, WiFI and WiFi Direct.

Set for launch in March 2103 the Samsung Galaxy Young is an attractive phone, with a respectable processor and screen size, although it’s probably not the best choice for photo fans. The price will be crucial – it needs to be around £150 to compete with the HTC Desire C and HTC Desire X. There’s no news on network availability or pricing yet, but we’ll bring it very soon.
