Is your phone getting Android Lollipop?

A full list of first-wave phones and tablets set to receive Android Lollipop has been revealed, with Sony and Motorola scoring high, but Samsung is yet to confirm if any Galaxy devices will be updated soon.

Last week, Google launched the highly anticipated next iteration of its operating system, Android 5.0 (dubbed Lollipop), which will first appear on the new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices. However, we now also know the full list of other phones and tablets which are due to get Lollipop first, and if you’re a Samsung fan, the news is unlikely to please.

The only Samsung handset currently due to receive Lollipop is the Galaxy S4 Play Edition, with the likes of the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy Note range all very notable by their total absence. However, Samsung might just be taking its time revealing which phones will receive the update first – we’ve contacted them to see what to expect.

The first devices to receive the update, as usual, will be Google’s own Nexus devices and Google Play Edition handsets, which is great news if you’ve got one. However, as Google has been so keen to point out lately, there are tons of OEMs using the Android OS, and so far HTC, Motorola, Sony and Nvidia have all jumped on the Lollipop bandwagon. Sony and Motorola in particular have been quick to suck Google’s Lollipop, with a huge range of phones set to receive the update soon.

No official roll-out dates have been given yet, but users can be assured that they’ll receive the update in the near future, hopefully by the year’s end or early in the new year.

Don’t be too disheartened if your device isn’t on the list below. It may just mean that yours will be part of a second-wave of updates. However, those of you rocking a seriously ancient Android device might want to consider an upgrade if you want the latest software.
