Acer has been saving up all its mobile phone news for Mobile World Congress, and has announced a slew of new smart phones over in Barcelona.
For the midlife crisis market, a flashy Ferrari-branded Acer handset will launch in March. Promising to “amaze both the trendiest style enthusiasts and techno-geeks”, the handset will be running Android 2.1 and “encase the drive and determination of both Acer and Ferrari to always be in pole position”. Which is nice, but doesn’t tell us much about the actual phone, of which no pictures exist yet.
Other Android handsets were revealed, too: the beTouch E110 (right) is an affordable handset with a 2.8-in touchscreen and 3G, while the slim beTouch E400 is intended for the design-conscious. Unfortunately its 3.2in HVGA display is a resistive touchscreen.
In the NeoTouch range, Acer outed the P300 – the 3.2-inch touchscreen handset also features a hard Qwerty keyboard. It’s running Windows Mobile 6.5, with both 3G and Wi-Fi. Its sister product, the NeoTouch P400, is a more professional handset; with a chrome finish, the P400 runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and comes with Internet Explorer 6 Mobile complete with Flash support. The 3.2” high-definition (HVGA) will make those Flash sites a pleasure to browse.
As if that wasn’t enough for even the most hardcore Acer fan, the company also announced Liquid e, an update to its well-known Liquid handset. New features include a five default home screens, a new keyboard layout and an update to the Android browser to support double-tap zoom, video tagging and HTML5.
