Asus 7″ tablet: Tegra 3 and Ice Cream Sandwich for $249

Everything was looking pretty standard at Nvidia’s CES event today, showing off the Asus Transformer Prime, as well as Tegra Zone. Then all of a sudden, a mysterious 7” Asus tablet is whipped out and showed off. Wait, what?

That was pretty much our reaction. What we do know is this: it’s seven inches, features a 1280×800 display, quad-core Tegra 3 processor, is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and has a “great camera” along with “all day battery life”. And most surprising of all was the price: supposedly just $249.

Unfortunately they failed to mention exactly what product it was. They really know how to keep a geek on their toes, huh? Specifically the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet were mentioned, so this elusive 7-inch offering from Asus is designed to compete at that low price point. We’ll bring you more details as we get them.
