Jaguar XF R-Sport: Going out with a bang?

Jaguar has bolstered the XF range with a new derivative known as the R-Sport Black. Extra equipment is also being added to all trim levels to give buyers a bit more bang for their money. 

The Jaguar R-Sport Black comes with 20-inch Black Kalimnos alloy wheels, 770w Meridian surround sound system, full leather upholstery, 18-way sports seats and a choice of five no-cost paintjobs. All in all, that’s £8,770 worth of extra equipment for a £2,100 premium on the R-Sport. 

All XF Saloon and Sportbrake models get the Winter Comfort Pack and Parking Pack for free, nada, gratuit (you get the idea), which includes heated seats, front parking sensors and a rear camera. A Blind Spot Monitor, meanwhile, is standard on Portfolio, Diesel S Portfolio, XFR and XFR-S cars. 

Jaguar has ditched SE, SE Business and Premium Luxury trim levels, making Luxury the new entry-level spec. The 3.0-litre V6 and 240PS 3.0-litre TDV6 have also been banished. 

Those buying the XFR will get stainless steel pedals, Speed Pack, Rear View Camera, Blind Spot Monitor and red brake calipers as standard, worth £3,760. 

Larger alloy wheels, Gloss Dark Oak veneer and an improved sound system are some of the other specification changes for the 2015 Jaguar XF. 

An entry-level Jaguar XF 2.2 i4 saloon with 163PS starts from £33,445. while the R-Sport Black saloon 2.2 i4 200PS is £36,250. Atop the range is the XFR and XFR-S, which cost from £65,440 and £79,995, respectively. 

There’s no word on when the new XF will arrive. Jaguar is probably focussing on getting the cheaper XE off the ground for now and the F-Pace sports utility vehicle in 2016.
