Rumours of a successor to the HTC One Max have surfaced, suggesting a 5.5-inch QHD screen and an 18-megapixel Duo Camera.
The HTC One (M7) was easily one of the most highly awarded smartphones of 2013, its bigger brother; the HTC One Max didn’t quite grab people’s attention in the same fashion, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from eyeing up its successor.
Supposedly called the HTC One (M8) Prime or HTC One Max 2, this mysterious phablet is expected to rock some serious hardware, which at this stage in the game would make it the most powerful smartphone on the market.
Interestingly the leak which appeared on Chinese social network Weibo, points towards a prototype currently in testing which sports a 5.5-inch screen, smaller than last year’s One Max, albeit with QHD resolution; that’s a whopping 2560×1440, giving a pixel density of 534ppi.
Other specs include a brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core chip, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage with a strong likelihood of microSD expandability by an additional 128GBs, just like the HTC One (M8).
Also like the M8, HTC’s new Duo Camera tech is expected to surface, albeit with a much larger set of sensors. The main snapper is rumoured to be an impressive 18-megapixel unit, whilst the depth sensor will boast a 5-megapixel resolution, for increased accuracy.
We don’t know what the Prime/Max 2 will look like, but we’re hoping to see a similar level of fit and finish to the company’s current flagship, and should that pesky fingerprint sensor reappear, let’s hope it’s a little more responsive… and useful.
