Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update leaks for Galaxy S3, includes Galaxy S4 features

Samsung has been doing a pretty decent job of updating its range of smartphones to newer version of Android, and it looks like a Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy S3 will soon be with us. SamMobile has managed to get its hands on an early version of the update, which is said to bring across some features from the Galaxy S4 along with other improvements.

Features pulled across from the Galaxy S4 include the revamped lock screen, new screen display modes, voice commands that help you navigate the phone, and an improved version of S Voice. There’s quite a few features in the update apart from those, however, including Daydream – Samsung’s customizable screen saver – driving mode, actionable notifications, and some new extras in the notification centre.

The user interface for the settings app has also been completely overhauled, with options now being split into categories like on the Galaxy S4. SamMobile also says that Gallery modes now show a white background, and there’s a new smart search widget for you to enjoy.

As the publication notes, this isn’t the final version of the firmware, so it’s likely that there are still some bugs and issues to iron out. Still, if you’re desperate to get Android 4.2.2 onto your Galaxy S3. then SamMobile has the download link and instructions that will show you how to get everything working. The site says that there’s no final release date for the update just yet, but it may officially push out to phones sometime in June.
