Sonos Controller for Android app available for free- now!

The Sonos Controller, which has been available on the iPhone for a while, is now finally available for download from the Android Market.

Free to download, it’ll turn your Android phone in a remote control for your whole Sonos music system.

We had a play with the app at Mobile World Conference earlier this year, running on Motorola’s Atrix.

Though it’s dragged its heels beyond the March release date announced in February, it’s now finally here.

Sonos promise that you’ll be able to search for and play songs from “the most popular online music services”, in addition to your own music collection, obviously, and internet radio streaming.

You can even search with your voice, if you like that sort of thing. On the phone screen, you’ll be able to see the album art of music playing, and adjust the Sonos system to play different songs in different rooms, and adjust the volume of different rooms or even the whole house- living the dream.

You’ll need Wi-Fi to connect the Sonos S5 or any Sonos ZonePlayer your home broadband router. Connect your phone to the same network, then this app will do the rest.

The Sonos Controller needs at least Android 2.1 to work, and is available now. You can read our impressions of the app here.
