Google has just announced the launch of its Google eBookstore, which lucky US users can use to browse and buy over three million titles to peruse on eBook-friendly devices.
Unlike other proprietary eBook stores, Google’s is “designed to be open”; this means you’ll be able to read your eBooks on compatible devices, which include laptops, netbooks, tablets, smartphones and e-readers.
You’ll be able to access the book shop on some mobiles too – Google is launching free apps for Android and Apple devices, so you’ll be able to download books and get stuck in while you’re out and about.
It’s all US-only at the moment, but here’s hoping the Google Bookstore and associated apps make it across the pond very soon.
