Orange announces partnership with Deezer: Free music streaming on your phone with Orange contracts

Orange has just announced a partnership with music streaming service Deezer, that’ll see people who sign up for Panther Pay Monthly plans get free access to a catalogue of some 13 million songs.

Deezer Premium+, which costs £9.99 a month, gives you access to the same catalogue from the web and on your phone. It’s available to access now on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry as well as selected Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones.

In most cases you can access the service by pointing your phone’s web browser at m.deezer.com and logging in when prompted. However iPhone and Android phone owners can download apps from the App Store and the Android Market.

Deezer is already a big deal in France and it reportedly boasts some 20 million users worldwide, 1.2 million of which are Premium+ subscribers.eezer

It remains to be seen whether or not it can usurp Spotify from it’s crown here in the UK. The London and Stockholm-based service passed the 1 million subscribers mark back in March this year and has launched in the US after hammering out rights issues with the big labels.

In the UK, Three has previously partnered with Spotify, integrating access to its Premium service into contracts. Selected Sony and Sony Ericsson tablets and phones will also be able to stream music via the Qriocity music platform; premium services for both of these work out at £9.99 a month – the same as Deezer mobile.
