New British car manufacturer teases classic sports car

David Brown Automotive sports car set to be unveiled in April 2014.

A brand-spanking new British classic luxury sports car manufacturer has been announced. David Brown Automotive, named after its founder, promises “to refresh the classic British sports car, for the 21st century”.

British businessman David Brown (not to be confused with Aston Martin’s David Brown) has enrolled the help of ex-Land Rover chief designer Alan Mobberley. Automotive engineering experts Envisage Group had the task of bringing the mystery motor – codenamed ‘Project Judi’ – to production.

Details of the sports car are scarce, but do at least we know Brown “has commissioned a completely original exterior and interior design”, the fruits of which will be revealed in April 2014, and that British suppliers have been used for the interior trim and materials.

The company also revealed its creation will be engineered for low-volume production (read: hand-crafted and therefore expensive), combine a classic exterior with the latest and greatest in automotive technology and that sales are going to be strictly limited (even more expensive).

“I wanted all the impact and style of a classic sports car, but with modern capabilities and conveniences,” Brown commented. “This is what I want in a car, but it’s not something anyone really offers. So, I’ve created it myself.”

Fingers crossed the car is as stylish as the official company logo above.

Head to the David Brown Automotive website to register your interest, or wait patiently until the big reveal later this year.
