Amazon greenlights latest Lovefilm pilot Betas, a Silicon Valley comedy

Amazon greenlights latest Lovefilm pilot Betas, a Silicon Valley comedy Amazon Studios has greenlit Betas, a Silicon Valley start-up-based comedy show that’ll be debuting on Lovefilm.

The show will follow the pursuits of four programmers working in the start-up universe on a ‘quest for nerd fame.’

It sounds a bit Big Bang Theory on the surface and even stars Margo Harshman, who has appeared in the latter show as an assistant to Jim Parsons’s Sheldon Cooper.

The software development angle should allow for a lot of web-based in-jokes and fourth wall breaking, especially as it forms part of Amazon’s latest online venture.

The pilot for Betas will air online alongside 13 others and if the viewing public deem it popular, it’ll get the thumbs up for a full series from Amazon Studios.

Other shows in the Amazon/Lovefilm original content line-up include a behind the scenes look at the Onion News Network, and Sara Solves It, a maths-based education show for children.

Betas will be available to watch for free in the UK on Lovefilm Instant.
