The weather has once again reared its ugly head, blasting Brits broadband connections in Scotland, Yorkshire and Humberside.
On December 5, 2013 much of the UK, particularly Scotland and the north of England suffered storm-force winds, rain and snow, causing damage to BT’s Openreach network and taking customers offline.
The following day, extensive flooding affected several homes and businesses in the eastern parts of the UK.
Read Recombu Digital’s guide to Openreach repairs and MBORCsOpenreach has announced the emergency MBORC (Measures Beyond Our Reasonable Control) status in seven major areas and engineers will be tackling the problems as soon as it’s possible to do so.
Previous repair work by Openreach teams has seen repairs completed in West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire & Chesterfield and Humber, with the last jobs being completed on Saturday December 21.
At the time of writing the remaining affected areas are:
- Highlands and Islands
- North East Scotland
- South East Scotland
- South West Scotland
- West Central Scotland
An Openreach spokesperson said: “We are continuing to direct available additional resource into the affected areas in order to bring the position back to normal as quickly as possible.
“We are monitoring the situation and will remove MBORC from these remaining areas as soon as service can be restored to levels they were at immediately before this severe weather.”
This morning the The Met Office has issued amber weather warnings for rain for the east, south west and south east of England (including London) and Wales.
Openreach has yet to report of any outages in these areas but with floods likely and expected in many parts of the UK, this could change over the next few days.
