Chromecast lands in the UK: £30 for Google’s TV stick

Chromecast has finally landed in the UK. The price for Google’s streaming stuff to your TV stick? £30.

The HDMI dongle that lets you cast content stored on your phone or stream Netflix titles – and now BBC iPlayer too – has been available to ship over from the US since launch.

While it’s now easier to get hold of, the price is a slight mark up from what you’d pay in the States – $35 currently just over £21 – an increase of seven quid on how the American price converts pre-sales tax. Rip Off Britain strikes yet again, but at the cost of a couple of pints.

Chromecast launches in the UK with access to YouTube, Google Play Movies, Google Play Music, Netflix, BBC iPlayer and a small army of other apps including a beta version of Chrome for your TV, a split screen web browser and, er, Tic Tac Toe

Google has launched Chromecast in 11 countries today, including Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

You can pick up a Chromecast from Amazon, Google Play or Currys PC World.
