Virgin Media has launched a Dark Knight Rises app to coincide with the launch of the latest Batman flick in cinemas.
The Dark Knight Rises app descends on to Virgin Media TiVo boxes today, giving Bat-fans the chance to access interviews with the cast, clips, hi-res screenshots and trailers. It’s a bit like watching the special features of a DVD for a film that’s only just arrived in multiplexes.
We’ve faithfully reproduced the screengrabs we’ve been sent here at full size (click to enlarge).
There’s also a full plot synopsis which you’ll no doubt want to avoid if you don’t want to spoil the ending of Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed trilogy, plus character bios for chief villain Bane, Catwoman and the caped crusader himself.
Naturally, through the TiVo app, you’re given the option to watch Batman Begins on-demand for a refresh on when it all began.
Aleks Habdank, director of digital entertainment product at Virgin Media, said: “The hotly anticipated finale of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy is sure to be the summer blockbuster and our new app gives TiVo customers the perfect way to immerse themselves in the action and catch up on the story in advance of the film’s release.
Virgin Media’s TiVo service presents a whole new digital entertainment experience for consumers who want more then just a standard TV service, and this app is another example of a great experience that only Virgin Media customers can enjoy.”
Virgin Media’s been pretty good with its fanservice of late. Trekkies will have taken note of the Star Trek TiVo app, launched to coincide with the digitally remastered original series showing on CBS Action.
The Dark Knight Rises app is available to download now in the Apps and Games section of your Virgin Media TiVo box.
For the complete Bat-overload experience you’ll also want to check out this Dark Knight Rises app for Nokia Lumia phones and our recent hands-on with the Dark Knight Rises Nokia Lumia 900.
