If you can’t make it to Glastonbury 2014 you’ve got the next best thing with the BBC – six live streams at your fingertips.
Action from across six stages – the Pyramid main stage, Other, John Peel, West Holts, Park and BBC Introducing – will be streamed live across on the BBC’s Glastonbury site, which can be accessed on PC, mobile and tablet.
As was the case with last year’s festival, Virgin Media TiVo customers as well as owners of LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony smart TVs with Connected Red Button will be able to effortlessly switch between the live streams while tapping into highlights all from one menu.
Bob Shennan, Controller BBC Radio 2, 6 Music, Asian Network and Director, BBC Music says: “Glastonbury is one of the world’s most famous music festivals and once again the BBC will be providing audiences with a magical weekend of coverage, in a way that only the BBC can.”
As well as streaming the action on up to four screens, You’ll be able to pick from live streams and catch up footage on the BBC’s Glastonbury site or listen in on iPlayer radio.
On top of this, BBC iPlayer will show highlights of over 100 artists for 30 days after the festival is over and stream live action as its broadcast on BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four.
BBC One will kick proceedings of with a Glastonbury special edition of The One Show on Friday June 27, with further coverage of the headliners – Arcade Fire, Metallica and Kasabian – kicking off on BBC Two from 10:00pm every night.
BBC Three will provide a more youthful angle on Glastonbury, with presenters Greg James, Gemma Cairney and Jen Long introducing performances by Rudimental, Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen, Haim and Sam Smith. BBC Four will show performance highlights from some yet-to-be-named ‘classic’ acts playing at the festival.
If after reading this you’re still gutted about not being able to go, consider that you won’t ever have to worry about clashing acts, your tent getting flooded, your phone getting lost, hippies, paying £8 for a thimbleful of organic paella, the festering, eye-stinging stench of the toilets and the fact that you’ll be able to sleep in an actual bed every night.
