ITV Player brings everything but Dapper Laughs to Kindle Fire tablets

ITV’s catch up service is now available to download from the Amazon Appstore, letting Kindle Fire tablet owners watch more TV on the go.

The ITV Player app lets you watch up to 30 days of catch-up content from the whole ITV family including ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CITV and the recently-launched ITVBe

Viewers can also watch shows including The Only Way is Essex, Coronation Street and The X Factor live over 3G, 4G or WiFi.

Steve Rabuchin, vice president of the Amazon Appstore said: “We’re thrilled to welcome ITV Player to the Amazon Appstore. ITV has delivered an innovative app that offers customers a great streaming experience, allowing them to enjoy the shows they love across our complete range of Fire tablets.”

An updated ITV Player app was launched at the beginning of October and in addition to adding ITVBe to the service, it also features a new ‘Watch Live’ icon at the top of the screen, pushing live content to the fore.

The new responsive design means that the app automatically scales to different-sized screens so whether you’re watching on a tablet, phone or online the experiences will be the same.

Paul Kanareck director of Online and Brands at ITV said that more and more viewers were watching content on tablets. “Tablet devices are a significant driver of long form video requests for the ITV Player and we are very excited to have launched the new and improved version of the app on Fire tablets today.

“As second screens are increasingly becoming second TVs, we are delighted to offer an instant and immediate user experience to allow Amazon’s customers to spend more time with ITV’s fantastic content.”

The only thing that ITV Player won’t be serving up anytime soon is Dapper Laughs: On the Pull; the pick-up artist-cum-happy slapper’s TV show has been axed by ITV following complaints about star Daniel O’Reilly’s comments and online behaviour.
