LG Skylanders Battlegrounds tie-up brings collectable gaming to TV

Hit gaming and collectables franchise Skylanders will punch its way onto smart TV with LG in time for Christmas.

Skylanders Battlegrounds will launch later this year on the LG Smart TV platform alongside the latest instalment of Disney’s Where’s My Water? series.

Battlegrounds is a fantasy combat game aimed at children and arrested development adults who collect small plastic figures, which unlock new characters and powers on the screen.

Read Recombu Digital’s guide to LG Smart TVRichard Choi, senior vice president of the smart business center at LG Electronics, said: “At LG, we’re committed to providing LG CINEMA 3D Smart TV users with a truly diverse range of entertainment options, suitable for the entire family.

“These entertaining titles deliver an incredible gaming experience thanks to the fantastic picture quality and large screens of our Smart TV lineup.

“The games we’ll be bringing to our platform will take advantage of LG’s easy-to-use Magic Remote, which makes the gaming experience much more like a dedicated game console.”

The LG Smart TV version of Skylanders Battlegrounds allows players to use any character from the entire range of Skylanders figures.

More than 125 million figures have been sold worldwide for Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure, Skylanders Giants, and Skylanders Battlegrounds, which is also available on iOS devices.

Where’s My Perry? follows Where’s My Water? and Where’s My Mickey? onto LG Smart TV, with players using the wand-style LG Magic Remote to secure the flow of a lightly-sparkling low-alcohol fermented apple drink [that sounds pretty likely].
