DAB and wireless radio makers Pure have celebrated 10 years of being in the business in style with the Evoke Mio Union Jack, a digital radio with a mod-tastic Union Jack leather exterior.
The Evoke Mio Union Jack goes on sale today and will retail for around £149.99. John Lewis and Comet will be stocking the Mio Union Jack along with “leading independent retailers.”
A combo DAB and FM radio, the Evoke Mio Union Jack also features a stereo out so you can plug your iPod, iPhone or PMP of your choice. It’s compatible with a Pure ChargePAK E1 battery and the OLED display features auto-dimming so it’s perfect for listening to a bit of Radio 6 at the bottom of the garden.
As well as the Evoke Mio Union Jack, Pure has published a timeline infographic detailing the potted history of digital radio. We’ve reproduced the graphic in full on the right here (click to enlarge).
Colin Crawford, Pure’s marketing director said in a statement: “When we launched the original Evoke in 2002, we never imagined that we would see crowds queuing down Oxford Street to get their hands on one, but that’s what happened, and the rest, as they say, is history.”
Crawford also teased about an upcoming product or service from Pure that’s coming later this year.
“We are incredibly proud of the Evoke’s success and proud to be flying the flag for British design and technology. 2012 is going to be an exciting year for Pure as we are launching our first non-audio product and expanding our cloud-based services as well as introducing a strong roadmap of digital radios in the run up to digital radio switchover.”
Sources have told Recombu Digital that the yet-to-be-named service is a ‘non-broadcast connected product,’ which is expected to launch sometime in July.
