Lancashire-based rural broadband project B4RN have connected the village of Newton to their all-fibre network.
The village joins the likes of Abbeystead, Arkholme and Quernmore that are already on the network enjoying 1Gbps download and upload speeds.
Newton residents of the village won’t be able to order in 1Gbps fibre just yet but the hard work is done. B4RN has posted a short video showing local volunteers getting their hands dirty and deploying cable across the approximately 3 kilometer diatance between Arkholme and Newton.

Residents can expect to start enjoying gigabit speeds soon. There’s no information on exact dates yet, but it’s a safe bet that residents of Newton Gate and The Osteopathic Centre will be able to benefit from faster speeds sooner than a lot of rural homes and businesses in the UK.
B4RN plans to connect over 2,000 properties in rural Lancashire to gigabit broadband speeds with full FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) broadband.
