Sky has announced that it is putting proposed price rises of Now TV on hold.

Earlier this week Sky announced that prices of the Entertainment Pass and Movies Pass would be increasing on the May 29.

Now, both of the subscription services will remain at their current prices of £4.99/month and £8.99/month for the foreseeable future.

The Entertainment Pass was due to increase to £6.99/month from May 29 onwards, which would have seen Game of Thrones having to pay extra to see that last three episodes of the current season.

Film fans who had signed up for a Movies Pass would also have been paying £9.99/month. Sky has recently secured a deal with Paramount which means titles like Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Noah and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will be heading to Now TV before the likes of Netflix, Prime Instant Video and Blinkbox.

Now TV also lets sports fans watch Premier League football games and other live sporting events with a £9.99 daily pass – the cost of this was not due to go up at the end of the month.

Customers have recently experienced problems when trying to stream high profile events at peak times. The hotly-anticipated first episode of Game of Thrones season 4 was unavailable to some subscribers as the service struggled to meet the needs of many rabid fantasy fans

Technical issues also saw a number of viewers unable to watch the crucial Liverpool vs Chelsea Premier League clash on Now TV and Sky Go, although Sky said in this instance only a minority of viewers were affected.

Sky has not mentioned if these outages are the reason why it’s decided to postpone the price changes.
