Sony has jumped on the home media storage hub bandwagon with the 1TB Personal Content Station for capturing your photos and video and sharing it on your TV.
The LLS-201 also features NFC (Near-Field Communication) – like the tap-to-pay chip in modern bank cards – which lets you connect your phone or camera with a single tap.
Your photos, videos, or music can then be copied to or from the PCS via your WiFi home network without any complex setup menus.

It can also convert AVCHD high definition camcorder footage into MP4 for playback on smartphones and tablets, and can show them on your TV in Full HD at up to 1080p/60Hz.
Viviano Cantu, director of consumer media marketing at Sony Electronics: “Consumer technology is more mobile than ever, and the smartphone now is often a person’s primary camera.
“The challenge is, what do you do with all that content on your phone, and how do you easily share it with family and friends? This device answers those questions. With 1TB of space, it has enough storage capacity to become the wireless hub of all your personal content.”
The PCS has an HDMI port, a single USB 2.0 port and a combined SD card/Memory Stick Duo slot, with DLNA network playback and WiFi in 802.11 a/b/g/n using 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
It’s controlled via both mobile phones and tablets, with a PCS Manager app available for Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and up, or iOS 6.0 onwards, that also lets you use it with phones that don’t have NFC – still the vast majority.
The app lets you manage and post photos and videos from the PCS onto cloud storage and social media like Facebook and Twitter, as well as onto TV.
