Three kills data roaming rates in Australia, Italy, Ireland and 4 others

Mobile broadband users on Three can roam with their UK price plan in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland and Sweden.

The Feel At Home option will activate automatically when you switch on your dongle or MiFi in a covered country, with more locations to be added.

It applies to pay monthly, Pay-As-You-Go and SIM-only mobile broadband and business plans, with a monthly limit of 25GB outside the UK for all-you-can-eat data plans.

Thomas Malleschitz, marketing director at Three, said: “We want to make sure our customers have the best possible mobile experience.

“By abolishing expensive roaming charges in select countries we are allowing our customers to get even more value from their minutes, texts and data abroad by removing the fear associated with staying in touch while travelling.”

Mobile broadband users exceeding their allowance in the Feel At Home countries will be charged at 10p/MB, much less than the current EU data cap of 39p/MB

Three typically charges £3/MB outside the EU, but there’s no official cap on non-EU data rates, although your mobile operator must give you a warning if you’re approaching around €50 (c.£43) of data use, and you must opt in to continue using data beyond that.

The Feel At Home option also applies to calls and texts, but only to the UK, with a 3000-minute and 5000-text monthly limit for all-you-can-eat packages.
