Orange and EAT launching Quick Tap Treats: Get free lunch with your phone

Orange and EATWho said there’s no such thing as free lunch? Orange and EAT are launching Quick Tap Treats, a promo campaign that sees owners of certain NFC-enabled phones able to qualify for free grub and upgrades on their meals.

Owners of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Bold 9790, BlackBerry Curve 9360 and Curve 9380, Samsung Tocco Lite, Samsung Wave 578 and Acer Liquid Express will be able to tap posters in EAT branches that have NFC tags embedded in them.

When you do so, you’ll automatically be entered into a daily draw which sees you winning freebies or upgrades to your meal.

The nosh on offer includes: a free ham and cheese baguette, free small coffee, free porridge, free fruit, a hot drinks upgrade (small to big), breakfast bacon upgrade (small to big) soup upgrade (small to big) and a free helping of mash and gravy with any pie purchase.

Wot, no wasabi peas?

Orange says that Quick Tap Treats apps will soon be made available on the BlackBerry App World, Android Market and Ovi stores as well as its own Orange World app portal. You don’t need the app installed on your phone to take advantage of the promo but the graphical overlay should provide an ‘improved gameplay experience.’

The Quick Tap Treats promo will be kicking off in early March with 110 branches of EAT participating. Orange customers will be sent a text when Quick Tap Treats kicks off.

Pippa Dunn, Chief Marketing Officer, Orange UK, said: “Last year we started a whole new movement in the way consumers make payments on the high street, and with Quick Tap Treats, we’re continuing this with a new and innovative way for our customers to receive rewards for their loyalty. So whether it’s a free coffee on the way into work, or a free baguette at lunchtime, you really do get more with you mobile on Orange.”

We weren’t hungry before we heard about Quick Tap Treats, but we are now. Thanks Orange!
