Motorola Moto G 2016 (Moto G4): All You Need To Know

Motorola Moto G 2016 rumour round-up: all of the rumoured specs, plus the UK price and release date, for Motorola’s fourth Moto G handset. This is what to expect from the Moto G4 and how it will likely compare with last year’s Moto G.

How will the Moto G 2016 compare to last year’s Moto G?

In terms of design, the Moto G4 won’t be a massive evolution over last year’s model. Leaked photos show a smooth back plate that comes in a variety of colours, with the same rounded edges and corners as previous Moto G handsets.

However, the 2016 Moto G will reportedly boast a fingerprint sensor housed beneath the screen, similar to the Galaxy S7, HTC 10 and other premium handsets. At this price point, that’s a serious advantage over rival smartphones. And you can expect better specs in most other departments too.

What are the Moto G 2016’s rumoured specs?

As well as a fingerprint sensor, the 2016 model of the Moto G will likely improve on last year’s specs in almost every way. Expect one of the latest mid-range Qualcomm processors, such as the Snapdragon 430, backed by 2GB or 3GB of RAM, for smooth everyday performance and stutter-free gaming.

Last year’s Moto G boasted a brilliant 16-megapixel camera (the same snapper found in the Nexus 6) and Motorola will have to work damn hard to better it. So far there’s no word on the Moto G 2016’s camera specs, but you can expect a reliable snapper with a pleasingly simple interface as usual.

As for the visuals, it’s about time that the Moto G made the leap to Full HD. We’re expecting a 5.2-inch screen packing a 1920×1080 resolution.

When will Motorola launch the Moto G 2016?

June 9 is the date that’s currently being thrown about for the Moto G 2016’s worldwide launch, and Motorola itself has confirmed that it will be launching something ‘exciting’ on that date.

When is the Moto G 2016’s UK release date?

You can expect the new Moto G to hit UK stores very soon after the official launch date, which right now looks to be June 9. In that case, we expect the Moto G 2016 to be available to buy in mid-to-late June.

What will be the Moto G 2016’s UK price?

Previous Moto G handsets have launched at around £150 SIM-free, so the new Moto G will likely follow suit. There will probably be a choice of two models, with different storage options.
