Google announced an unusual partnership last month with Nestle to promote the latest version of Android, dubbed KitKat. The search company didn’t say exactly what Android 4.4 would bring to the table, but we’re getting a better idea thanks to some leaked screenshots of the OS from Gadget Helpline.
For the most part, this looks to be a minor revision to Android. The status bar, for instance, now features white icons instead of blue. Google has seemingly baked in a new printing option, as well as built-in wireless payments straight into the OS. The company, then, may launch a renewed effort in the mobile payments arena despite Google Wallet failing to take off.
Other additions include a dedicated menu for wireless video streaming to devices that support Miracast, plus more Google apps that will come installed by default, including Drive and Keep. The camera interface has been tweaked yet again, with photographers now able to see a live preview of various Instagram-esque filters.
There’s no indication of when Google will officially detail the new version of its mobile OS, or when it will be released. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it debut before the end of the month, though.
