Angry Birds Rio trailer released

Rovio has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to produce a branded version of the game that’ll tie in with upcoming blockbuster flick Rio.

Imaginatively titled Angry Birds Rio, the game will feature 45 levels of bird-catapulting action that we know and love. Characters from the film will make appearances, although it’s not known if you’ll be able to use them alongside the regular flock.

The trailer below shows three of the Angry birds being captured by rare bird collectors and winched off to Rio de Janierio. Once they escape, they find themselves in a shadowy warehouse filled with hundreds of other caged birds. The movie itself revolves around Blu, a rare macaw captured by smugglers when en route to Rio.

The post over on Rovio’s blog says that the game will “launch with 45 dedicated levels and will regularly add new levels via app updates.”

Angry Birds Rio, due to arrive in March, will be available for download on “smart phones and tablets worldwide”.

We heard last year that Rovio would be working on an Angry Birds movie, which apparently has been ditched in favour of an animated series.
