HP Pre 3 set for August release

UK fans of Palm/HP webOS may soon be getting their hands on the company’s flagship handset very soon. A senior HP official has confirmed that the HP Pre 3 will be launching in the UK by the end of August.

Paul Hunger General Manger of Personal Systems, told ZDNet that: “[The Pre 3] It’s coming this month.’

The Pre 3 is the third generation of what was originally Palm’s flagship handset, following the Pre and Pre 2 it was the first Pre to take on the HP name, following the company’s acquisition of Palm.

Considering it was originally announced in February – along with the smaller, more affordable HP Veer – it has taken a long time for it to finally arrive in the UK.

Hunger also spoke about the future of the HP webOS system commenting:’ we’re also focusing on expanding the eco-system to get more apps and developers working on the WebOS platform.”

Currently HP webOS only runs on the handsets and HP’s TouchPad tablet, which we were really impressed with. With its combination of flicks and the use of cards, it’s one of the most user-friendly tablet operating systems we’ve seen, especially since the HP webOS 3.0.2 update.
