HP TouchPad: July release date in UK, price from £399

HP has announced that the Wi-Fi only HP TouchPad has been given a loose release date of mid-July here in the UK.

The TouchPad will be the first HP tablet to be powered by the company’s new webOS system, offering true multitasking, and some very cool sharing features with other webOS devices.

The US, France and Germany will all get the TouchPad on the 1st July 2011, with other countries set to get the tablet later in the summer.

It’s set to be available from both HP and stores, in either 16GB and 32GB sizes, and you can expect to pay £399 for the 16GB model, and £479 for double the storage. You’ll be able to preorder from the 19th of June.

HP look set to push the new webOS system. Jon Rubinstein, senior vice president and general manager of the Palm Global Business Unit at HP said: “The platform’s unmatched features and flexibility will continue to differentiate HP products from the rest of the market for both personal and professional use.

“This is only the beginning of what HP’s scale can do with webOS.”

Forthcoming add-ons for the TouchPad include a charging dock, wireless keyboard and protective case.
