HTC 3D Evo coming to Europe. A rival to the Optimus 3D?

A HTC phone recently announced at US trade show, CTIA, we had labelled the HTC 3D Evo a US-only 4G affair. But it looks like it will be available in Europe later this year, according to HTC France, who’ve tweeted all about it. Sacre bleu.

The HTC 3D Evo will have a 4.3-inch qHD screen, with a retina display-approaching resolution of 960×540. Inside, there will be a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and dual-lens cameras capable of full HD 2D video, and 720 3D video capture.

There’s also a meaty 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The 3D magic is, naturally, glasses-free, so expect a similar effect to the Nintendo 3DS or the forthcoming LG Optimus 3D- the 3D Evo’s natural enemy.

The 3D Evo looks set to be a return to premium high-end phones for HTC, who have so far announced several handsets geared at more mainstream consumers, less interested in high specs and high prices. It’s also expected to have the latest version of Android (Gingerbread), alongside what could be an enhanced HTC Sense interface- already hinted at on the forthcoming HTC Flyer tablet.

And as they say in Le France, “Date de dispo non confirmée.” That sort of  means no release date confirmed just yet, so in its stead, here’s a promo video from US phone network, Sprint to whet our appetite. Looks like the Optimus 3D will have competition.

We contacted HTC UK for a response, and a spokesperson told us that, “Along with the market, HTC is excited by a series of new products that are coming to Europe this year.

“Whilst we have nothing to announce today, stay tuned for some surprises in the future.”

Surprises! Yay! Recombu will bring you said surprises when we hear more.
