Heroes rejoice! HTC has just announced that the long-awaited Android 2.1 (Eclair) updates are going to be released for the HTC Hero this month, with the first rolling out from this week.
When your Hero checks automatically checks for updates the first part of the upgrade will be downloaded. The second part of the update to 2.1 will take place towards the end of the month.
It’s very important to note that the second update will wipe all data on your phone. So now back everything up before you accept it.
HTC also advises using a Wi-Fi connection for the updates to avoid incurring any additional data charges.
