HTC Rhyme confirmed: Android fashion phone

UPDATE: HTC has confirmed its latest Android smartphone the HTC Rhyme, a mid-range handset available in a trio of bright colours with a range of compatible accessories.

With a unibody design that is unmistakably HTC, the Rhyme is an attractive handset. Available in three shades: Clearwater, Hourglass (which we won’t get in the UK) and Plum, all with matching accessories it’s fair to say it’s aimed at the female smartphone fan.

We saw pictures of the Rhyme earlier this week. HTC has refreshed its Sense interface, with a cleaner, less cluttered homescreen and new wallpapers, while the locksceen can be customised to show favourite features.

Elsewhere there’s a 3.7-inch LCD screen and 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, face detection and Panorama mode. HTC Watch is included for movie downloads.

Scott Croyle from HTC comments: ‘HTC Rhyme represents an entirely new approach, based on recognition that there is a substantial group of consumers who want their phones to be more personal and complimentary to every moment of their day.”

What’s interesting about the phone are the accessories it’s compatible with, which coordinate to match the handset colour. These include: a Docking Station, Sports Armband, Tangle Free headphones, Bluetooth Headset and Car Speaker. You can also get the HTC Rhyme Charm; a light-emitting cube that attaches to your phone via a cord, making it easier to find your phone in a bag.

The HTC Rhyme will be available globally in October, although the actual launch date has yet to be confirmed. It’s an O2 exclusive and we’ll only be getting the Plum version.

UPDATE: We’ve just heard from O2 and the phone will be going on sale on October 17th
